I just returned from a fabulous trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is fall in Brazil so the weather was absolutely perfect, the famous beaches are gorgeous, the Corcovado (with the Statue of Christ) was awe-inspiring, but the very best thing about Rio is the warm and friendly people! I was so touched by the welcoming hospitality of everyone I met.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Rio Quilt Show. It was fun seeing the beautiful works from local quilters, meeting the merchants, and having the opportunity to interact with crafters at my lectures. It seems like I signed hundreds of books and everyone was very appreciative of my visit and enthusiastic about what I had to share. We also had a fun evening with a group of quilters at the Jockey Club…lots of laughs even with the language difference!
In addition to my time at the Quilt Show, I was lucky to get to do some sightseeing in that beautiful part of paradise. We enjoyed surf, sand, and sun at the famous Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches. I’ve never seen such spectacular blue water and white, soft, sand. Our visit to Rio’s best known monument, the Statue of Christ the Redeemer on top of Corcovado Mountain, was like stepping into heaven. It was a gorgeous day and the incredible view from the mountain was breathtaking.
I want to thank all my new friends in Rio for their wonderful hospitality and for making my visit such a fun and inspiring time. Our quote of the month is from an unknown source, "Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget."
Thanks for the memories,
